DUKE POWER COMPANY OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION Response to IE Inspection Report 50-269-15, -270/80-10 ITEM As required by (g)(4) of 10CFR 50.55(a) and implemented by the Technical Specification, Paragraph 4.2, as updated, requires the surveillance program of Class 1, Class 2... components comply with ASME Section'XI (74S75). Para-graphs 1-3131 and I-3210 require that basic calibration block configuration reflector size and location comply with Figure I-3131.
Contrary to the above requirement, on April 15, 1980, the size and location of holes and notches (reflectors) on LSI basic calibration blocks Nos. 40303 and 40304 did not comply with Figure 1-3131 of the above ASME Section XI code.
This is an infraction.
RESPONSE
In response to item 50-270/80-10-01, improperly designed ISI calibration blocks, all Oconee ISI calibration blocks and drawings were reviewed.
Several blocks were found with reflectors which do not fully meet the requirements of ASME Section XI, 1974 edition through S75 addenda. The design of these blocks are being reviewed, and they will be modified to meet the code requirements, if possible, by adding additional reflectors.
In those cases where adding reflectors would interfere with the calibration, we intend to request relief to use the reflectors now in the blocks.
