i Investir;ation of Reported Contaminated Equipment l

It was reported to the writer that the licensee had received a stainless steel "0" ring that had been a part of a Binghara-Willamette pump that been involved in a failure within a primary loop on a reactor. That part had been con-taminated with liFP. See attached " Radioactive Shipment Record."

The writer investigated this report and found that the "0" ring part did contain detectable activity although no removable contamination was detected.

A Ludluo !!odel 14A thin end windon G1 survey reter was used. Surface readings were maximum 0.7 mr/hr and an average of 0.5 c4/hr over the entire surface area.
