Effluent Treatment Systems Branch DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST:
By the enclosed letter of June 23.1975, and referenced document entitled "Oconce Nuclear Station Waste Management Facility Safety Analysis Report", Duke Power Company has identified the design objectives and criteria to be incorporated into the stations' per-manent waste facility.
An interim waste facility was constructed at Oconec after Units 1 and 2 were licensed and prior to fuel loading of Unit 3.
The interim facility was considered necessary af ter it was determined that the original f acility, as described in the FSAR, would not be adequate to process the expected volume of liquid wastes.
It should be noted that the licensee has inferred that the design of tho perunnent facility involves no unreviewed safety questions as defined in 10 CFR 650.59.
In addition, there are no changes to te operating licenses or technical specifications involved in this facility modification.
