Fay 1 Vice President l Nuclear Power 231 West Michigan Street - P379 Milwaukee, WI 53201 Gentlemen: We have received the enclosed Federal Errergency Management Agency (FEMA) letter dated July 19, 1989, and associated final exercise evaluations of the offsite, off-hours emergency preparedness drills conducted on October 20, 1988. These drills demonstrated the ability of the State of Wisconsin i and local governments to mobilize staff of their Emergency Operations Centers. i The final FEMA exercise evaluation does not list any areas requiring j corrective actions regarding the offsite emergency response plans for the area around the Point Beach, Kewaunee, Zion, and Prairie Island Nuclear -{ Power Stations, j d Based on the performance of the offsite agencies during the exercise FEMA ) 7 also did not' identify any deficiencies affecting public health and safety in the event of_an accident at the various nuclear power stations. As a result, the approval of offsite_ emergency preparedness under FEMA Rule 44 CFR 350 will remain-in effect. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.- Sincerely, 'D L.
