July 31, 1980 Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Re: Cherokee Nuclear Station Perkins Nuclear Station File Nos: CK-1412.00, CK-1444.00 PK-1412.00, PK-1444.00

Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

This letter is in response to your request of July 2, 1980 for Information con-cerning evacuation time estimates for nuclear power plants with current or pending construction permits.

At this time Duke Power Company is uti1* zing its personnel associated with the evaluation of evacuation times and the development of emergency plans for its Oconee, McGuire, and Catawba Nuclear Stations.

Information on these projeccs was submitted prior to March 1, 1980. Our Cherokee and Perkins Nuclear Stations pose no unique population or population density situation which would cause ex-tremely long evacuation times. For these reasons we propose to submit the in-formation requested on July 2, 1980 by February 1, 1981.
