IllSTRUMENTAT!0:1 FIRE DETECTION IllSTRUMENTATION LIMITIkG CONDITION FOR OPERATION 3.3.3.7 As a minimum, the fire detection instrumentation for eacn fire de-tection zone snown in Table 3.3-11 shall be OPERABLE.
APPLICABILITY: Whenever equipment protected by the fire detection instru-ment is required to be OPERABLE.
ACTION:
With tne number of OPERABLE fire detection instrument (s) less than the min-imum number OPERABLE requirement of Table 3.3-11:
- a. APPLICABILITY : At all times.
ACTION:

- a. (Two) fire suppression pumps, each with a capacity of (2500) gpm, with their discnarge aligned to the fire suppression header,
- b. Separate water supplies, each with a minimum contained volume of 300,000 gallons, and
- c. An OPERABLE flow path capable of taking suction from tne pre-treated water storage tank lio.11 and the pretreated water storage tank tio.12 and transferring the water through distri-bution piping with OPEPABLE sectionalizing control or isolation i
valves to the yard nydrant curb valves, the last valve ahead of the water flow alarm device on each sprinkler or hose stand-pipe, and the last valve ahead of the deluge valve on each de-luge or spray system required to be OPERABLE per Specifications 3.7.11.2, 3.7.11.4 and 3.7.11.5.
APPLICABILITY: At all times.

- a. With one pump and/or one water supply inoperable, restore the inoperable equipment to OPERABLE status within 7 days or, in lieu of any other report required by Specification 6.9.1, pre-pare and submit a Special Report to the Commission pursuant to Specification 6.9.2 within the next 30 days outlining tne plans and procedures to be used to restore the inoperable equipment to OPERABLE status or to provide an alternate backup pump or supply. Tne provisions of Specifications 3.0.3 and 3.0.4 are not applicable,
- b. Witn tne fire suppression water system othensise inoperable:
- 1. Establish a backup fire suppression water system with 24 nours, and
- 2. In lieu of any other report required by Specification 6.9.1, submit a Special Report in accordance with Specification 6.9.2:

SURVEIIlRICE REQJIRDEITS 4.7.11.1.1 The fire suppression water system shall be demonstrated OPERAB'.Z:
- a. At least once per 7 days by verifying the contained water supply volume.
- b. At least once per 31 days on a ST/J3dPZD TSST 3 ASIS by starting each electric motor driven pump and operating it for at least 15 minutes on recirculation flow.
- c. At least once per 31 days by verifying that each valve (manual, i
power operated or automatic) in tne flow path is in its correct position.
- d. At least once per 12 months by cycling each testable valve in the flow path througl at least one complete cycle of full travel.
- e. At least once per 16 months by perf,rming a system functional test which includes simulated automatic actuation of the system throughout its operating sequence, and:
- 1. Verifying that each automatic valve in the flow path actuates to its correct position,
- 2. Verifying that each pump develops at least (2500) spm at a system discharge pretsure of 125 psig.
3 Cycling each valve in the flow path that is not testable during plant operation through at least one complete cycle of full travel, and 4 Verifying that each fire suppression pump starts (segaen-tially) to maintain the fire suppression water system pressure greater than or equal to 60 psig.
- f. At least once per 3 years by performing a flow test of the system in accordance with instructions approved by American Nuclear Insurers.

PLANT SYSTEMS SURVEILLANCE RE0VIREMENTS (Continued) 4.7.11.1.2 Tne fire pump diesel engine shall be demonstrated OPERABLE:
- a. At least once per 31 days by verifying:
- 1. The fuel storage tank contains at least 174 gallons of fuel, and
- 2. The diesel starts from ambient conditions and operates for at least 30 minutes on recirculation flow.
- b. At least once per 92 days by verifying that a sample of diesel fuel from the fuel storage tank, obtained in accordance with ASTM-D270-65, is within the acceptable limits specified in Table 1 of ASTM D975-74 when checked for viscosity, water and sediment.
- c. At least once per 18 nontns, during shutdown, by subjecting the diesel to an inspection in accordance with procedures prepared in conjunction with its manufacturer's recommenda-tions for the class of service.
4.7.11.1.3 The fire pump diesel starting 24-volt battery bank and charger shall be deoonstrated OPERABLE:
- a. At least once per 7 days by verifying that:
- 1. Tne electrolyte level of each battery is above the plates, and
- 2. Tne overall battery voltage is greater than or equal to 24 volts.
- b. At least once per 92 days by verifying that the specific gravity is appropriate for continued service of the battery.
- c. - At least once per 18 nontns by verifying tnat:
- 1. The batteries, cell- plates and battery racks shown no visual indication of pnysical damage or abnormal- deteri-oration, and
- 2. The battery-to-battery and terminal connections are clean, tight, free of corrosion and coated with anti-corrosion material .

- 3. By a visual inspection of each nozzle's spray area to verify the spray pattern is not obstructed.

- a. At least once per 31 days by visual inspection of the hydrant hose house to assure all required equi p t is at the hose house.
- b. At least once per 6 months (once during Maren, April or May and once during September, October or November) by visually inspect-ing each yard fire hydrant and verifying that the hydrant barrel is dry and that the hydrant is not damged, 1

i 1. Conducting a hose hydrostatic test at a pressure at least J 50 psig greater than the maximum pressure available at any
- yard fire hydrant.
