NRC letter dated 9/14/79 from R. W. Reid to A. E. Lundvall, Jr., Amendments Nos, h1 and 23

Dear Mr. Denton:

In accordance with the referenced letter, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company hereby requests amendments to its Operating Licences DPR-53 and -69 for Calvert Cliffs Units 1 and 2, respectively, with the submittal of the enclosed proposed changes to the Technical Specifications.

These changes reflect the recent changes made to the station fire protection systems and program and are consistent with NEC guidance.

The following specific comments apply to the enclosed Specifications:

1. Table 3.7 Engineering is continuing on the sprinkler system, and the information contained in this Table may be amended at a later date;
2. Table 3.3-11: Engineering is continuing on the Fire Detection Instrunent System, and this Table may be amended at a later date;
3. Table 3.7-6: This Table is essentially complete, but the possibility of future changes exists.

It is requested that NRC proceed with review and approval of Section 3/h.7.6, Fire Barrier Penetrations , on an expedited basis to provide relief from the requirement for fire watches. Review and approval of remaining sections can proceed according to existing NRC review schedules.

Pursuant to the NRC's negative fee determination contained in the referenced letter, no fee submittal is required for this request.
