Gentlemen:
.v We are reviewing the Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 1 Emergency Core Cooling System reevaluation submittals dated July 9, 1975, August 8, g
1975, and August 22, 1975, and have concluded that the additional information described in the enclosure is needed to complete our review.
To enable us to maintain our review schedule, please provide the requested additional information by October 15, 1975.

,Y ARPANSAS NUCLEAR ONE D3CKET NO. 5'0-313 REQUEST FOR ADD)TIONAh INFOR:!ATION The 'ECCS; analysis for your plant is reforcuced to bah'-10103.
Provide justification for the following input paranators used in bah'-10103 by comp irison with the appropriate values for your plant.
. 1. LNet Free Containacnt Volume - Justification should include the total gross internal contain::.cnt voluuc and the internal structures and equip-
~
ment and their volun.cs which are subtracted to obtain the not frec containuent volume.
A discussig,n of the uncertainties should be pro-vided.
. 2.
Passive !! cat Sinks _ - Provide the actual passive heat si.nk st ructures for your plant.
Discusr. the ucthod of detery.ining the passive contain-ment heat ' sinks.
Identify each heat r. ink by category -(i.e., cah]c tray, equipment supports, floor grating, crane wall, etc.) and provide surface area, ' thickness, tatorials.of const ruction, - therna) conductivity and volumetric heat capacity,' by component category used in the containuent :
transient analysis code.
3.
Starting Tine 2cf Containment CoolinpJstem(sl - Discuss the factors
~ hat show that the start tine (s) assuned in the containment response
.t
~
' analysis represent the earliest possible initiation of systeu(s) operation.
4.- Containment Initia1' Conditions - Coir. pare the initial values of-temperature.
pressure"and relative' humidity in the containment with-the range of valt.as that will;be permitted during plant operation.

5.
Containment Spray Water Temperature - Show that the value of containment
_ spray ater temperature used in the containment response analysis is the w
lower bound temperature consistent with plant operating conditions and that the spray flow rate used is suitably conservative.
6.
Fan-Cooler Heat Removal Rate - Compare the maximum fan-cooler heat removal rate for your plant with that assumed in BAN-10103.
Show that minimum operational values of service water temperature have been used.
7.
If any of the above parameters are less conservative for your plant than used in the generic evaluation of BAW-10103, provide the sensitivity of these parameters to the overall containment pressure response. This evaluation should demonstrate the overall conservatism of your contain-ment parametcrs to those used in.BAW-10103.
