Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. W. W. Peery and M. S. Kidd

of this office on September 11-14 and 25-28, 1973, of activities authorized by

AEC Construction Permit No. CPPR-57 for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1

facility, and to the discussion of our findings held by Messrs. Peery and Kidd

with Mr. J. W. Anderson and other members of your staff at the conclusion

of the inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the

enclosed inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted

of selective examination of procedures and representative records,

interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were disclosed.

We have also examined actions you have taker with regard to previously

identified enforcement matters and unresolved items. The status of

these items is identified in Sections II and IV of the summary of

the enclosed report.

Three new unresolved items resulted from this inspection and are

identified in Section III of the summary of the enclosed report.

These items will be examined during subsequent inspections.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the AEC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,

Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the
