REPORT Ceorgia Power Company Plant E. 1. Hatch Baxicy, Georgia 31513 Reportable Occurrence Report No. 50-366/1980-083.

On May 14, 1980, with the reactor in the startup mode and a power icvel of 25 MWt, personnel observed that 2D RilR Pump Suction Valves, 2 Ell-F004D and F006D.there were no indicating lights for the revealed that the valves would not Further investigation operate from the control switches.

The 2D RilR Pump was declared inoperable and both Core Spray Subsystems were verified to be operable per Technical Specifications 3.5.3.2.

The failure of the valves to operate was due to the open and close limit switch rotors in each valve operator being broke.

base had come loose and allowed the rotor contacts to hang on the fingersThe limit swit which broke the rotors when the valve was operated.

tightened and the rotors were replaced.

The finger bases were satisfactorily and the 2D RHR Pump returned to service. The valves were then operated This was not a repetitive evo't nor were there any effect to public h'calth and safety.
