Dear Mr. Nelson,

By letter dated September 26, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML19275D255),

Cameco Resources Crow Butte Operation submitted the 2020 update to the financial surety estimate for activities at its Crawford, Nebraska, in situ uranium recovery facility. The NRC staff has completed its acceptance review of the surety estimate and has found the estimate acceptable for further detailed technical review. Please note that the complete technical review may identify technical issues that require additional information.

The NRC staff has prepared a schedule for the review of this surety estimate. The schedule shown below is based on several assumptions:

Timely (i.e., within 60 days) and high quality licensee response to the NRC staffs request for additional information (RAI)

There are no major modifications (e.g., changes due to the expected alternate decommissioning schedule submittal) to the basis for the surety estimate NRC Milestones Projected Completion Date RAI February 18, 2020 Issue Verification of Surety Estimate August 11, 2020 In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this e-mail will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/readingrm/adams.html.
