WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 March 6,1980 Docket No. 50-206 Mr. R. Dietch Vice President Nuclear Engineering and Operations Southern California Edison Company 2244 Walnut Grove Avenue Post Office Box 800 Rosemead, California 91770
Dear Mr. Dietch:
RE:
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT SAN ON0FRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT N0.1 Reference 1:
Guidelines for evaluating environmental qualification of Class lE Electrical Equipment in operating reactors - to NRC letter to licensees, dated February 15, 1980.
Reference 2: Guidelines for identification of that safety equipment of SEP operating reactors for which environmental qualification is to be addressed - Enclosure 2 to NRC letter to licensees dated February 15, 1980.
In our meeting of February 21, 1980 regarding the subject program, we indicated that an accelerated review schedule was being developed for this program.
The schedule is attached as Enclosure 1, which includes the required date for your submittal showing conformance to the qualification guidelines of reference 1.
The information to be provided in your submittal, as required by references 1 and 2, is summarized in Enclosure 2.
Where you have previously submitted some of the required information, it is sufficient to incorporate information already on the docket by specific reference.
It is not necessary to resubmit.
However, an orderly organization of the information should be maintained.
For example, if any previously submitted table is changed, revised pages should be submitted. does not show submittal dates for Palisades and Oyster Creek, since the scheduled site visits for these plants precede any practical submittal date.
Material provided for these two plants will be upgraded to the level of other plant submittals through a question-and-answer process.
