O APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Duquesne Light Company Docket No. 50-412 This refers to the inspection conducted by representatives of the Region I (Philadelphia) office at the Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit 2, Shippingport, Pennsylvania, of activities authorized by NRC License No. CPPR-105.

During this inspection, conducted on December 10-13, 1979, the following apparent item of noncompliance was identified.

10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion III states, in part "... design control measures shall provide for verifying...the adequacy of design,..."and

"... Design changes,...shall be subject to design control measures commensurate with those applied to the original design..."

The Beaver Valley Power Station PSAR, Section 17.1.3.38 states, in part "After a drawing is produced it is thoroughly reviewed...The review of the initial and all subsequent issues is for adherence to standards... engineering calculations...and correctness of dimensions."

The Stone Webster Engineering Corporation Project Procedure 2BVH-41, " Criteria for Design and Identification of Electrical Cable and Raceway Systems",

Addendum No. I states, in part, " Safety System Trays" of one color group shall be designed with a vertical separation of 32 in min to safety trays of another color group..."

Contrary to the above, on December 12, 1979, cable tray arrangement drawings i

had not been reviewed adequately. As a result, safety system trays of separate color groups having vertical separations of less than 32 inches were shown on three approved cable tray arrangement drawings.

This item is an infraction.
