Dear Mr. Moseley:

1 My letter dated April 8, 1976 responded to OIE Inspection Report 50-269,

-270, -287/76-2. Item I.A.1 stated that high background readings seen on diation monitors RIA-33 and RIA-34 presently precluded a correlation of laboratory results and expected monitor readings.

In the interim until these background effects can be eliminated, beginning June 1, 1976, a redundant valve lineup check of the ef fluent pathway will be performed prior to each liquid effluent release.

In addition, a redundant sample and gross beta analysis will be performed prior to each liquid effluent release.

With regard to item I.A.3 concerning the interim waste build'ng vent gas monitor RIA-52, a daily check is being conducted to assure ins operability until the station modification providing an alarm is completed.

V y truly yours,
