RESPONSE TO IE INSPECTION REPORT 50-269, -270, -287/76-6 I
Contrary.to the requirements of Criterion XII of Appendix B to 10CFR50 as implemented by Section 17.2.12 of the Duke Power Company Topical Report on Quality Assurance Program, DUKE-1, certain safety-related test and measuring instruments, specifically strain gages and diaI indicators, were observed to be improperly tagged and stored with non-safety-related instruments on July 13, 1976.
RESPONSE
Specific training regarding the issue and storage of precision measuring and test equipment has been conducted to assure that all personnel understand and abide by the controls established for such equipment.
In addition, a separate tool and test equipment area for the Mechanical Maintenance Section is being established.
Two Storekeeper personnel have been assigned to control this area, and a system which will segregate safety-related equipment and facilitate the handling, storage and issuance of all tools and test equipment is being implemented.
The area will be fully operational by January 1,1977.
It is considered that the above j
action will provide adequate control and segregation of safety-related tools i
and test equipment.
