With regard to your letter of July 27, 1976, Duke Power Company does not consider information contained in IE Inspection Report 50-269,

-270, -287/76-6 to be proprietary.

Please find attached our response to Item I.B.1 and I.B.2.

Other enforcement items identified in Section I of the inspection report are under' Ed"ditional review and a response will be provided by August 27, 1976. Additionally, information will be submitted as requested in your letter describing actions taken or planned to improve the ef fectiveness of our management control systems.

Training has been conducted to assure that personnel concerned are familiar with station procedural requirements. Also, the importance of properly implementing procedures and, in particular, documenting information as required, has been stressed.

Supervisory personnel have been instructed that they must assure that any technician assigned to a shif t for the i

purpose of documenting procedural requirements is adequately instructed in the task to be performed.

I.B.2 Contrary to 10CFR50, Appendix B, Criterion 17 and Section 17.2.17 of the

~ licensee's Operational Quality Assurance Topical Report, the nuclear

instrumentation strip chart for April 13, 1975 on Unit 2 could not be 4

j retrieved.

RESPONSE

To prevent recurrence of this deficiency, the appropriate station directive will be revised

  • requiring that removal of any chart be accompanied by a document transmittal sheet signed by the individual removing the chart.

is considered that this procedure will aid in accounting for all charts It at all times.

This revision will be completed and Laplemented by August 23, 1976.
