Regulatory Operations Bulletin No. 73-3.
This insp erinn was conducted at Oconee Unit 1 during August 19-24, 1973.
On August 24,1973, the results of this inspection were reported to the Directorate of Regulatory Operations, Region II, by telephone.
Results of Inspection Sixty-nine (69) suppressors and restetints were inspected.
All suppressors and restraints were manufactured by the Grinnell Company.
'Dro suppressor fluid reservoirs were found dry on 132 reactor coolant pump motor.
This was the result of leaking tubing fittings between the suppressors and the reservoirs. Minor leaks at tubing fittings were found on forty-one (41) other suppressors.
Table 1,"Suppressors and Restraints Inspected," sumarizes the inspection results.
Included in this table are the serial number, model, and location of installation, the as-found condition, and corrective action taken to ensure complete opera-bility of the suppressors.
After tigntening any leaking joints or fittings, the supperssors were re-inspected to verify no leakage.
The two suppressors on the main steam system which had oil leaks at the cylinder joints will be observed closely, and if necessary, the suppressors will be replaced at the next outage.
Surveillance Schedule

An inspection of suppre'ssors and restraints on safety-related systems will be 4
made annually during the refueling outage.
This surveillance will be made in accordance with periodic test procedure PT/0/A/027/35, " Inspection of Hydraulic Suppressors and Restraints."
