Dcke Power Company Oconee Nuclear Station Seneca, South Carolina 29678

Dear Jim:

I would like to thank you for your hospitality during my visit to Oconee on May S.

It was most instructive to have been able to observe so much of the facility and to be able to discuss items of mutual interest with you, Tom Holland, and Mike Tuckman.

The purpose of the visit was, of course, not to evaluate Oconee's vulnerability to sabotage but to begin to acquire J

an understanding of some of the practical considerations involved in making present and future nuclear reactors less vulnerable to sabotage. The !!RC is continuing a systematic evaluation of reactor vulnerability to sabotage and direct involvement with those responsible for operation and maintenance of nuclear facilities will help insure that we discharge our public re:ponsibilities in an effective manner.
