Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. F. Jape of this
office on July 17-20, 1973, of activities authorized by AEC Operating
License No. DPR-38 for the Oconee Unit 1 facility, and to the discussion
of our findings held by Mr. Jape with Mr. J. E. Smith at the conclusion
of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the
enclosed inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted
of selective examination of procodures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were disclosed.
We have also examined actions you have taken with regard to previously

identified enforcement matters and unresolved items. The status of
'
these items is identified in Sections II and IV of the summary of
the enclosed report.
One new unresolved item resulted from this inspection and is identified
in Section III of the su= mary of the enclosed report. This item will
-
be examined on subsequent inspections.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the AEC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the
enclosed inspection report will be placed in the AEC's Public Document
Room. If this report contains any information that you believe to be
proprietary, it i,s necessary that you submit a written application to
this office reque' sting that such infor=ation be withheld from public
