The attached report of an unannounced inspection at the subject site on
March 21-2h ,1972, is forwarded for information.
No items of noncom-
pliance and no safety ite=s were identified.
uO e appears to be more receptive to the inspector's cenments in correcting
specifically-identified preoperational testing deficiencies.
It appears
that a better job is being done in assuring that FSAR design commitments
are demonstrated during testing.
It has not been demenstrated, however,
that effective changes are being made to the basic test program to assure
that the preoperational testing progrca vill accomplish all of the desired
objectives. Continued attentien vill be given to this area in future
inspections.
During this inspection, the principal inspector was advised that Westinghouse
DB-50 circuit breakers are not used at Oconee (RT&O3 h8).
The regional office was recently notified by Duke that they presently
estimate that all steam generator and reactor vessel internals repairs and
modifications vill be completed for Unit 1 on October 1, 1972, and on Unit
2 en October 31, 1972.
