I Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-461 Construction Permit CPPR-137 On May 27, 1980, Illinois Power Cocpany verbally notified Mr. H. Wescott, NRC Region III, of a potential reportable

deficiency per 10CFR50.55(e) associated with the Control Rod Drive (CRD) penetrations through the drywell wall.
Our investigation of this matter has not been completed.
We need approximately three more weeks to complete our investi-gation, at which time we will notify you as' to whether the deficiency is considered reportable and provide a final report to the NRC if the deficiency is reportable.
