Improved Iodine Instrumentation
Dear Mr. Reid:
Subsequent to telephone conversations between members of our staff and the NRC staff, Florida Power Corporation herein provides clarification to the methods by which we intend to collect and analyze air samples likely to contain radiciodine during an accident.
This letter supple-ments our February 15, 1980, letter to Mr. Denton and clarifies the means by which compliance with the Category A requirements of NUREG-0578, as concurred in by your May 5,1980, letter, will be maintained.
Silver zeolite cartridges will be used to collect radiciodine under ac-cident conditions.
A Single Channel Analyzer (SCA) has been located, modified, and will be available prior to startup to detennine radioio-dine concentrations.
The detector utilizes sodium iodine crystals and is equipped with an independent power supply.
A dedicated SCA has been ordered and delivery is expected during October 1980.
