Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 Reactor Vessel Atypical Weld Material and Steam Generator Repair
Dear Sir:
In my letter of August 18, 1978, it was stated that the revised pressure-tcmperature operating curves would be administratively applied to Crystal River Unit 3 until it was determined that the atypical material was not used in the manufacture of our vessel or until it was determined that it was used and a license amendment was issued inserting the revised curves into the Technical Specification.
Af ter further discussions Ath Babcock & Wilcox, the chemical analysis of the reactor vessel surveillance tsterial could be completed by November 1 1978.
If it is determined by the chemical analysis or by the ongoing records search that the atypical weld material was used in the manufacture of our vessel, a Technical Specification' Change Request will be submitted as soon as possible incorporating revised prer:ure-tempecature operating curves into the Technical Specifications.
If neither the results of the chemical analysis nor the records search demonstrate that the atypical material was not used in our vessel by November 1,1978, a Technical Specification Change Request inccrporating the revised pressure-temperature operating curves will be

Reid Page Two August 31, 1978 In my. letter of August 25, 1978, Florida Pouer Corporation concluded that the damage and subsequent repairs to the "B" steam generator would not have a detrimental effect on its safe operation, We will perform a video or visual inspection of the "B" OTSG primary side upper tube sheet and tube ends dur.ng the next scheduled steam generator inspection required by the Technical Specification.
