This refers to your June 28. 1979 request for route approval to cover shipments of irradiated reactor fuel from the H.B. Robinson Plant to the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant.
We have detamined that the review of licensee route approval requests is subject to the Comission's license fee schedule in 10 CFR 170. For reactor licensees, fees for the review of route approval requests will be assessed under fee Category F of Section 170.21. as special projects.
In accordance with Footnote 4 of Section 170.21, the charge for the reviam will be detemined by the Comission based on the professional manpower required to conduct the review plus any support costs.
In detemining the fee to be charged, only actual staff time expended in the review of the route request is used to calculate the fee; the route (field) survey con-ducted by the NRC staff is excluded from fee computation.
The review of the June 28, 1979 route approval request was completed on July 13,1979 (copy enclosed). The cost of the review amounted to
$1,444 (38 man-hours 0 $38/ man-hr.). We have notified the NRC Office of the Controller to issue your Company an invoice for the fee.
We apologize for the delay in notifying-you of the fee requirement for route approval reviews.
