Dear Mr. Widner:
This letter confirms the staff's oral authorization (telephone call by D. Verrelli, NRC, to C. T. Moore, GPC, June 2,1980) to amend, temporarily, the Technical Specifications for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Unit No.1 as indicated in the enclosure. The amendment revises the Technical Speci-fications for the High Pressure Coolant System (HPCI) to permit startup with an inoperable HPCI for purpose of conducting a special test. This authorization was in response to your telecopied request dated June 2,1980.
A formal amendment package ir.cluding our Safety Evaluation and Notice will be forwarded to you in the near future.
