20555 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324 LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 SINGLE FAILURE CRITERIA FOR SAFETY SYSTEMS IN POWER REACTORS
Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
This is a follow-up to our May 12, 1980 letter which responded to your April 10, 1980 letter concerning clarification of the term "0PERABLE" as it applies to the single failure criterion for safety systems in power reactors.
Carolina Power & Light Company's (CP&L) interpretation of the existing standard technical specifications for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit Nos. 1 and 2 has been in accordance with the Model Tech-nical Specifications transmitted by your April 10, 1980 letter. Rather than continue to rely on this interpretation, CP&L is herewith requesting revi-sions to the Technical Specifications for BSEP Units 1 and 2 in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Part 50.90 and Part 2.101.

The changes to the existing technical specifications are indicated by a vertical bar in the right hand margins of the affected pages which are attached. No license amendment application fee is required since this sub-mittal is the result of a written Commission request to clarify the technical specifications.
