By letter dated May 1,1978, you requested, pursuant to Regulatory Guide 8.15 Section C.6, fiRC approval of the use of a double-bibbed plastic hood by personnel at Rancho Seco Nuclear Pcwer Station.
This is to advise you that the approval provision of Regulatory Guide 8.15, Section C.6 applies only when no equipment of a particular type has been approved under the schedules in 30 CFR Part 11 or where there is no existing schedule for approval of such equipment.
In the presert instarce, since there are already a number of approved supplied air-hoods (e.g., see LA-NUREG-6612-MS, " Supplied Air-Hood," dated' December 1976 (also carries report number UC-41)), we conclude that there is no regulatory basis for Ccmmission review of the acceptability of an additional supplied air hood. Accordingly, your request for NRC approval of the use of an air supply double-bibbed plasti: hood at Rancho Seco is denied.
