Thia, refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. R. T. Dodds and

L. J. Garvin of this office on June 12-13, 1973, of construction
'
activities authorized by AEC Construction Permit No. CPPR-56 and to the
discussion of our findings held by Mr. Dodds with Messrs. J. J. Mattimoe,

J
J. Jewett and other members of your utaff at the conclusion of the
(
inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection included (1) reactor coolant pressure
(
boundary pipe welding, (2) other Claan I pipe welding, (3) Class I
components, (4) reactor vessel internals, and (5) several industry related
potential generic problems. Within thene areas, the inspection consisted
of selective examination of procedurca vnd representative records,
interviews with project persEnel, and observations by tiie inspectors.
In addition, the status of actions you have taken with respect to the
items identified in our letter of April 18. 1973, and your answer of May 15,
,
1973, were examined. We have no further questions concerning these items.
During this inspection, it was found that certain of your activities
appeared to be in noncompliance with your quality assurance program
requirements. The items and referencen to the pertinent requirements
are listed in the enclosure to this letter.
This notice is sent to you pursuant to the provisions of Section 2.201 of
the AEC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2. Title 10, Code of Federal
Regulations.
Section 2.201 requiren you to submit to this office wLthin
thirty (30) days of your receipt of thin notice, a written statement or
-
explanation in reply including:
(1) cerrective steps which have been
taken by you, and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will
be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance
will be achieved.
