The purpose of this memorandum.is to provide you with information on the status of the Florida Power Corporation application for an
! operating license for the Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Generating P lant.
The Final Safety Analysis Report has been submitted as Amendment Number 11 to their application, Docket No. 50-302 A " pre-Calvert Clif fs" Envirot:nental Report has also been submitted (February 1971);
however, a major revision. to confona to the new 10 CFR 50 Appendix D, is planned for submittal by the applicant in Decenber 1971.
The applicant's proj ected fuel loading date is July 1973.
Cecmercial operation is planned for September 1973.
With these dates in mind,.our cverall review schedule, exclusive of NEPA considerations, calls for presentation to the ACRS in Septenber 1972, which is nine months prior to the applicant's-projected fuel loading.-
The operating license review. of this plant has been assigned to Pressurized Water Reactor Project Branch No. 4.
The assigned project leader is Howard J. Faulkner. He is located in Roca 220 and-can be reached on Extension 7401. Day-to-day contact in DRL.on NEPA matters specifically related to the Crystal River plant
