The Oconee Nuclear Station Unit i nuclear power facility has recently been identified by the Faderal Power Cosmaission (PPC) as one that is crucial to meet the peak summer needs for 1972. To accommodate the concerns expressed by the FPC we are expediting our review of the environ-mental impact of this facility so that we may make an early decision as to whether this facility is acceptable for licensing.
_In this regard, we issued _a Draft Detailed Environmental Statement on December 13, 1971 for comment by various state and public agencies and by the public. We anticipate that we will issue the Final Detailed Environmental Statement, incorporating all public comments, during the week of February 28, 1972.
