Doub DISPOSITION OF ACTION ITEMS RESULTING FROM JANUARY 18, 1972 EETING WITil CEQ AND EPA REPRESENTATIVES Oil OCONEE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT In response to your nemorandum of January 21, 1972 regarding the subject neeting, we have initiated the following action:

Additional Information Requested by EPA We have net with representatives of EPA and Duke Power 4
Company to discuss the thennal data requested by EPA.
Duke Power Coupany has supplied additional information to us and we are evaluating it. We have initiated efforts to obtain the information on biota, including a neeting with experts from the Department of Interior, Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife held on January 21,1972. We have established a deadline date of February 28, 1972 for issuance of the Oconee Final Environcental Statement.

Accident Analysis The public coc: ment period for the accident analysis rule has expired. In reviewing, we have found that quantitative cocuents on the probabilities of accidents were not offend.
We are studying the coments further and are planning our future course of action. We expect to develop a definitive plan of action within the next several weeks. We will advise you of the details of tne plan when it has been developed.
3.
Transportation A draft of the general analysis of tha impact on the environnent of the transportatiun of r0dioactive fuel to and from nuclear power plants will be papared by early March 1972. We plan to hold a topical st.minar with

several of the Federal agencies following preparation of the draft document.
EPA has been fumished copies of existing AEC and D0T rugulations related to shipping and shipping containers in pmparation of our future meeting.
In addition to the above, we have initiated a program of topical technical meetings with several of the Federal agencies where our approach to major technical matters is presented and discussed.
The first meeting in this series was held on January 17,1972 to discuss accident analysis.
As requested in your January 21 memorandu.1, attached for your signature is a letter to Mr. Gordon MacDoncld informing him of AEC actions stemming from the January 18 discussion.
