ACRS(14) l In the sumer of 1973 a significant nucher of hydra 61ic s, hock suppressors (snubbers) were f ound to be inoperable et many reactor facilities.
'Ihe tailures were caused by severe degradation or seal inaterials and subsequent leakage of hydraulic fluid.
An extensive seal replacement pror. ram has been carried out which i
has significantly reduced the incidence of snubbor failures.
Fovever, failures continue to occur.
Our review of snubber ex;.arience at rea ctor facilitics indicates a need for technical specifications requiring snutber operability and surveillance.
i.e have prepared model technical specifications and basce which vill provide addit ional assurance ci sat istsctory snubber performance and relicbility.
