This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. F. Jape and others of
this office on March 13-16, 1973, of the activities authorized by AEC
Construction Permit No. CPPR-34 for the Oconee 2 facility, and to the
discussions held with Mr. J. E. Smith and other rerbers of your staff
at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are as described in the enclosed
t
inspection report No. 50-270/73-3.
Within these areas , the inspection
consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative
records, interviews with plant personnel, and cbservations by the
inspe ctor.
No violations or safety iters were identified within the secpe of
this inspection.
As relates to discussions pertaining to testing of the core flooding
system, it is our understanding that you do not plan to conduct a
-
core flood flew test as was done for Unit 1.
Your positior. has been
referred to our Headquarters for their review and evaluation. We
will inform you of the results of their review and evaluation.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the AEC's " Rules of Prectice,"

Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Pagulations , a copy of this lett< r
and the enciesed inspection report will be placed in the AEC's PuF lic
