Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
This letter is in response to your February 23, 1980 letter which requested information to describe isolation valve configuration and to indicate if an Event V isolation valve configuration exists within the Class I boundary of the high pressure piping connecting Primary Coolant System (PCS) piping to low pressure system piping.
Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) submits the following information for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
.Only two systems at BSEP, Residual Heat Removal (RHR) and Core Spray
'(CS), meet the criteria of a system where PCS piping and low pressure piping both exist on the same system..The valve configuration on both of these systems at BSEP~ consists of.a. check valve with two motor-operated valves in series. This is not one of the valve configurations of concern addressed in your letter. These motor-operated valves are Type "C hak rate tested at each refueling outage per 10CFR50, Appendix J.
