THE DUKE PCWER COMPANT OCCNEE UNITS 1, 2 AND 3, DCCERT NOS(50-269g 270, 287; QUESTIONS AND SGEMATIC DIAGRAMS RELATING TO INSTRmS3rf1 TION, CONTROL AND POWER RT-744 A forwarded tha I&PTB questions relating to instrumentation, control and power.

As a result of meetings with the applicant on November 13 and 19,1969, we find it necessary to make the following changes to our questions:

1.

Question 13 - Delete this question; 2.

Question 17 - Change this questica to read:

Page 7-17 of the FSAR states that "The drive controls, i.e., the drive mechanism and rods combination, have an inherent speed-limiting fea ture. " Please dascribe this feature and show how it prevents rod speeds of other than 30/: min.

In the event that this speed-limiting function is accomplished by the use of synchronous progransner motors, identify the sources of power to the programmer motors. For each of these sources, describe the features which prevent or limit frequency changes.

The remaining questions should be forwarded to the applicant.

In addition, please request that the applicant submit his Reactor j

Protection System, Engineered Safety Feature, and electrical power system schematic diagrams for our review. The following schematic diagrarse are required:

j 1.

Reactor Protection System l

a.

Protection channel outputs, including trip relay coils 1

b.

Operation bypass circuits (if any) c.

Logic circuitry which controls the reactor trip breakers 2.

Engineered Safety Features a.
