Dear Mr. Lauser:
The Atomic Energy Comission has issued an Order Extending the Provisional
[
Construction Permit Completion Date for Duke Power Conpany's Oconce Nucicar Station, Unit 1.
In lieu of the completion date of January 31, 1972, the latest cocpletion date has been extended to June 30, 1972.
The applicant's stated reasons of " Good cause" for requesting this I
extension of time include delays from (1) late delivery of major reactor
\\
system components, (2) replacement of reactor coolant pumps, and (3) l corpletion of the preoperational test program. Additionally, the reactor coolant pumps have recently experienced excessive vibration requiring their renoval and return to the manufacturer for craninstion and necessary c.odifica tions.
Two copics of the applicant's letter stating the reasons for requesting the extension and two copies of the Coc=21ssion's Order are enclosed for the information of the Joint Con =ittee.
Copies of the Order have been sent to the Office of the Poderal Register for filing and publication.
