November 19, 2019 Ms. Cheryl A. Gayheart Regulatory Affairs Director Southern Nuclear Operating Co., Inc.

3535 Colonnade Parkway Birmingham, AL 35243

SUBJECT:

VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - CORRECTION OF AMENDMENT NOS. 96 AND 74 RE: ADOPTION OF STANDARD TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS WESTINGHOUSE PLANTS

Dear Ms. Gayheart:

On September 25, 1996, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment Nos. 96 and 74 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML012390239) to Facility Operating Licenses NPF-68 and NPF-81 for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Units 1 and 2, respectively. The amendments replaced the existing technical specifications (TSs) to adopt NUREG-1431, Revision 1, Standard Technical Specifications Westinghouse Plants.

The NRC staff has confirmed that Amendment Nos. 96 and 74 for VEGP, Units 1 and 2 contained two typographical errors on the title of Figure 3.4.16-1 of page 3.4.16-4 in TS 3.4.16,

[Reactor Coolant System] RCS Specific Activity. The first typographical error was the spelling ACITVITY instead of ACTIVITY. The second typographical error was mCi/gram instead of

µCi/gram.

The NRC staff found that the markup of Figure 3.4.16-1 had the correct mark-up in the licensees letter dated December 21, 1995 (Microfiche: 86713: 001 through 86721: 145, specifically Microfiche: 86716: 345), and determined that the error was inadvertently introduced and were not the subject of the amendments or the associated notice to the public. Therefore, consistent with NRC staff guidance dated January 16, 1997 (ADAMS Accession No. ML103260096), based on the NRCs policy established by SECY-96-238, these errors can be corrected by a letter to the licensee from the NRC staff.

Enclosed please find the corrected VEGP, Units 1 and 2, TS Figure 3.4.16-1 (page 3.4.16-4).

This correction does not change any of the conclusions in the safety evaluation or final no significant hazards consideration associated with Amendment Nos. 96 and 74.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 301-415-3100 or John.Lamb@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
