Dear Bob:

Transmitted herewith is the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Administrative Report " Faults at the General Electric Test Reactor Site, Vallecitos Nuclear Center, Pleasanton, California", by Darrell Herd and Earl 3rabb.

The report provides the USGS review of data presented by General Electric and its consultants at the ACRS meeting in San Francisco November 14, 1979. Much of that material never has been formally docketed by the applicant, a situation that has made it dif ficult for the USGS to perform its review in the normal manner.

In addition, our report contains some pertinent information regarding the age of the Livermore Gravels.

The USGS has had field teams investigating the ef fects observed from the January 1980 series of earthquakes in the Livermore Valley.

"Do c" Bonilla reports on these investigations in the enclosed Open-File Report No.80-523, " Surface Faulting Near Livermore, California Associated with the January 1980 Earthquakes." A longer term USGS project, conducted by Bill Ellsworth, discusses the seismicity of the Livermore area. His report, OF 30-515, Seismicity of the Livermare Valley, California Region, 1969-1979, is also enclosed.
