ARKANSAS POWER & LIGHT COMPANY POST OFFICE box 551 LITTLE ROCK. ARKANSAS 72203 [501)371-4000 April 1,1980 2-040-01 Mr. K. V. Seyfrit, Director Office of Inspection & Enforcement U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza Drive, Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76011

Subject:

Arkansas fluclear One - Unit 2 Docket No. 50-368 License lio. NPF-6 Licensee Event Report No. 80-016/01T-0 (File: 2-0520)

Gentlemen:

In accordance with Arkansas Nuclear One Unit-2 Technical Specification 6.9.1.8.h, attached is the subject report concerning an inconsistency between the Tech Specs and the FSAR. The AN0-2 Technical Specifications require a shutdown margin of 1% AK/K. However, the ANO-2 FSAR assumed a shutdown margin of 2% AK/K for the boron dilution accident analysis.

A review of operating history verified the 2% AK/K shutdown margin assumed in the FSAR has never been exceeded during any previous periods of operation, and has always been maintained conservative with regard to the FSAR.

Very truly yours, u

A0 avid C. Trimble
