LWR BCs We have reviewed the additional clarifying information you provided in Mr. J. J. Mattimoe's letter to A. Giambusso, dated August 6, 1974, with regard to the design of the expansion joints recently installed into the Pancho Seco Unit 1 spray ponds. We find that the specified criteria based on appropriate sections of the ANSI B31.1 Power Piping Code and Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code provided an acceptable basis for design.

Sincerely, Crfginal Signed by A. Schwencer, Chief Light Water Reactors Branch 2-3 Directorate of Licensing ec: David S. Kaplan, General Counsel & Secretary 6201 S Street, P. O. Box 15830 Sacramento, California 95813
