Dear Mr. Smith:

In response to your letter identifying three areas of non-compliance with our quality assurance program, please be advised of j

the following actions which have been taken:

1.

Regarding appr' oval of procedures for radiographic examination of primary piping, these procedures have been reviewed and j

approved.

2.

Regarding the proper storage of weld rod, including E7018 and E90 type rods, the following actions have been taken:

The construction practices relating to the use of portable I

electrode warmers has been implemented with "a revision to Quality Control Instruction No. 301; namely, "On site storage of welding filler metal shall be under conditions as outlined in the AWS Specification applicable to the filler metal as purchased and/or the Bechtel Welding Standards." If the requirements provided in the Bechtel Welding Standards differ from those in the AWS Specifi-cations, the Bechtel Welding Standard shall take precedence.

Where other than normal storage temperatures are to be maintained 'in the portable rod warmers, this information shall be provided on the WR-6 form.
