CPPR-51, DOCKET NO. 50-302 The attached report of an inspection of the subject facility by our inspectors on January 8-9, 1970, is forwarded for information. No items of nonconformance were noted.
During T.he previous inspection, our inspectors observed two concrete cracks in the op+a" "a'c c' 'he tendon gallery (C0 Report No. 50-302/69-5).
The untert Associates geologist stated at that time that nearby pile driving operations may have caused the cracks.
The geologist continued his examination and later found that the foundation under the cracked O) valls contained large voids or areas filled with ungroutable material.

Horizontal water flows beneath the surface foiled attempts to cement grout these areas.
It was then decided to go to chemical grout. Woodward, Clyde and Ginard, consultants to the A-E, have furnished an engineer to direct the chemical grouting operation.
TPC has obtained the services of Dr. H. 9. Golder of H. Q. Golder and Associates as the owner's consultant in this operation.
Golder will issue a formal report when vork is com-pleted. We feel that the licensee and his A-E are making appropriate use of consultants to assure success in this grouting operation.

The licensee predicts that initial core fnel loading vill occur in September 1972.
