2. Facility: Crystal River Unit #3
3. Report Date: 7 July 1977 4 Occurrence Date: 15 June 1977
5. Identification of Occurrence:

Failure of AHF-6A to start rendering the containment hydrogen purge system inoperable contrary to Technical Specification 3.6.4.2.

6. Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

Normal Mode 1 power operation. _.

7. Description of Occurrence:

At 1300, in the process of purging the Reactor Building, the Reactor Building cooling fan AHF-6A could not be started from the Control Room. Investigation revealed loose e' lectrical connector on thermal overload heater. After tighten-s ing connection and operational check, fan was returned to service.

8. Designation of Apparent Cause:

Loose electrical connection.

9. Analysis of Occurrence:

The safety to the plant and general public was not affected as redundant Reactor Building cooling fan AHF-6E was operable and available.

10. Corrective Action:

None required as this was.an isolated event.

11. Failure Data:

This is the first occurrence of this event.
