Mr. R. C. Arnold Senior Vice President Metropolitan Edison Company 100 Interpace Parkway Parsippany, New Jersey 07054

Dear Mr. Arnold:

On November 21, 1979, Mr. Syd Miner of my staff was given an outline of your report entitled " Technical Plan for TMI-2 Recovery." Mr. Wilson of your staff indicated that on December 10, 1979, he would provide us with an early, but not GPU approved, draft of this report.

This schedule will not meet our needs for responding to Senator Hart's request for information on the TMI-2 decontamination program. We require that you provide by Decernber 12, 1979, an approved version of the " Technical Plan for THI-2 Recovery." In addition, we require that you provide on the same date your current best estimate schedule for the decontamination effort up to and including fuel removal and reactor coolant system decontamination.

If you require any schedular information on NRC activities, please contact me.

If you cannot meet the above date, please justify and provide us a schedule for providing the requested information within seven days.

Sincerely, j
