Gentlecen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. F. Jape of this office

on January 22-25, 1974, of activities authori::ed by AEC Operating

License No. DPR-38 for the Oconee 1 facility, and to the discussion

of our findings held by Mr. Jape with Mr. J. E. Smith at the conclusion

of the inspection,

Areas exanined dur'ing the inspection and our findings are discussed in the

enclosed inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted

of selective exanination of procedures and representative records,

,

interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

During the inspection it was found that certain activities under your

license appear to be in violation of AEC requirements.

The violation

and references to pertinent requirements are listed in Section I of

the su= mary of the enclosed report. No response is required for

violations listed under I. A.a. , d. and e. since these catters were

resolved and your corrective actions verified during the inspection.

With regard to violations listed under I.A.b. and c. , Section 2.201 of

the AEC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal

Regulations, requires that you submit within 20 days, in writing,

your co= cents concerning these itees, a description of any steps that

have been or will be taken to correct these itees, a description of any

steps that have been or .d;. be taken to prevent recurrence, and the

date the corrective acticiu
