Gianhusso, Deputy Director for Reactor Projects, L COMMONVEALTH EDISON REQUEST FOR HEETING WITH UPPER LEVEL REGL'LATORY MANAGEMENT 0:I DRESDEN 1 DECONTRilNATION A seeting has been scheduled for November 26, 1974, between the Regulatory staff and representatives of Commouvealth Edison (CE) to discuss the planned decontamination of the Dresden Unit 1 primary coolant system. You will recall that such a meeting was initially requested by Byron Lee, Jr., Vice President of Commonwealth Edison in a recent telephone conversation with you.
Copies of the meeting notice, the tentative agenda and a status report on the Dresden 1 decontamination program are attached for your information.
Mr. Lee will be the senior CE representative participating in the meeting. He has requested, through his staff, that the necting be attended by representatives of Regulatory upper management including yourself, if possible.
CE has indicated that its formal presentations will take about two hours.
The purpose of the meeting appears to be early identification of activitica associated with the planned decontamination that would be of concern to the Regulatory staff. To our knowledge, no items have been identified that require the participation of our upper management.
On this basis, it is our opinion that the liccasing concernseshouldibe identified and discussed with the technical staff and their immediate supervisore and the presence of upper manager:ent is not required.
We would apprecicte knowing whether you plan to attend this meeting.
