Dear Mr. Denton:

Lessons Iaarned Short Term Requirements North Anna Power Station Unit No. 2 The following information, regarding the implementation of the Short Term Lessons Learned requirements on North Anna Unit 2, is provided in response to a telephone request from your staff received on February 25, 1980.

Items are numbered as in NUREG 0578.

Section 2.1.8.b.

Increased Range of Radiation Monitors In our submittal of January 10,1980 (Serial No. 015) we stated that a procedure for the interim quantification of high level releases would be corapleted by January 31, 1980. The procedure, EPIP-11 Estimating Release from Radiation Monitoring System Data, is attached.

Section 2.1.8.c.

Improved In-Plant Iodine Instcumentation Under Accident Conditions In our submittal of January 10, 1980, we stated that a procedure for the use of silver zeolite cartridges had been prepared.

The procedure, HP-3.3. 2, Health Physics Survey - Air Sampling, is attached.

Reviews of shielding and existing laboratory facilities indicate that the existing facilities may not be fully available under certain accident condi-tions.

However, should the need arise, samples could be transported to our Surry Power Station for analysis.

As required by your clarification letter of October 31, 1979, we will provide, by January 1,1981, the capability to remove the sampling cartridge to a low background, low contamination area for further analysis.

Very truly yours, m
