Roger MAttson FRMO:
Bob Budnitz Succested changes in ' final draft' dated 30 August Major changes:
1)page 2, second entry: (beginning "Lanning(memo) - requested....)
line 4 of second paragraph reads "was approximately 100 cubic feet and increasing."
That should be 1000 cubic feet.
I have checked this with Lanning and he and I agree that that is the correct number.
- 2) pace 21, entry beginning "about 1345 - Commission Meeting...."
Second sentence beginning "Budnitz gives briefing...".
This discussion is not correct as I read the transcript or as I recall the briefing.
we didn't conclude that the mixture then contained 3-4 % oxygen, in fact that discussion never came up at aI The discussion was about flammability limits, pressure pulse if it burned, and vessel integra.ty.
I recommend the following re-write:
Budtittz gives briefing on current assessment by IRC staff of bubble situation (pp. 100-116):
concludes that if a fast hydrogen hun burn were to be initiated, vessel integrity would be compromised. Didn't know of any initiation mechanisms.
That reading is a better synopsis of the meeting record than what you worte, in my view. Please substittte.
y Minor things: really Murley's businees but he is on vacation:
Murley's memo to. files.of 13 June contains the following entry that I suggest be included.
It is xeroxed here for your possible use.
Potential Pressures frem Hydrecen E lesion 2226 217 On Sunday corning senecne suggested that I colkt informatien en wha

I received infor:ation that Dr. Noran Slag of Picatinny Arsenal had made calculattens sacwing a sharp peak ;ressure of 12,50 of a det: nation of a 1000 cu. ft. bubble c:ntaining a mixture of 52t

Lauben - Radiophone from control rocra to Mattson (recollection) - I have been following GPU bubble size measurement and analysis.
Expressed confi-dence that bubble size was decreasing dramatically.
Thursday, March 29 s1800 to 2200 - N. Lauben (recollection)
Mattson, Novak, Minners, Israel, Lauben at IRC.
Information from site indicates unusual " softness" of primary system when attempts were made to depressurize.
Discussed possible sources for gas bubble (zirc. water reaction, radiolysis, steam formation) Estimated radiolysis from TMI FSAR data.
Called Mqtt Taylor e
on sam subject.
