v..a COMPLE.'!ENT TO Tl!C CllECKLIST The quantity of 39 kgs uranium in our request;js for nanufacturing of 110 standard fuel elements and 20 control rod fuel sections (1 year's need) for operating the R2 reactor. About 15", of the uranium is a surplus quantity for scrap etc for the manuf acturers, Suken and Cerca.
Operation schedule The R2 reactor is calculated to operate on 50 MW 16 cycles / year or in average 6430 hours0.0744 days
1.786 hours
0.0106 weeks
0.00245 months
/ year.
Core loading for each 18-days cycle For each loading we use 44 standard eler.ents (6-7 new elenents - 250 g U235 each and and 38-37 partly burned) and 6 control red fuel elements (0-1 new 5 partly burned).
Total weight of the core for each cycle S,9 1 0,4 ag of U235. Average operation pcwer 50 "W.
Burn-up With existing experiment loading we estimate an averazu burn up of 57 : 2 percent, calculated of U235.
CHECKLIST 9.d All spent fuel will be reprocessed at Department of Energy's Reprocessing Plant at Savannah River.
Contract EY-76-C-09-1018.
All fissile material after processing will be used "as feed" in coming short-term, fixed commitment contracts.
