SUBJECT:
PPG INDUSTRIES, INC., PITTSSURGH, PA LICENSE NO. 37-00862-14, REQUEST FOR TERMINATION On April 23, 1930, we received a Certificate of Disposition of Materials for License iio. 37-00362-14.
It was stated that all licensed material had been transferred to PPG Industries, Inc.
License No. 37-00374-05.
Our files inoicate tnat PPG Industries, Barberton, Ohio is not authorized to receive this material, ac~ in a telephone conversation with Mr.
Danner of PPG Inoustries of arcerton, Ohio, he specified that this material hao not been r ece;ia at Barberton, Ohio.
In our letter of June a, 1980 to :r. Jack U. ays of PPG Industries of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, wa. e.,uested cir.n fication as to whom the source was transferred. Mr.
. sani.ar of PPG Incustries in Barberton, Ohio responded and specified in nis letter of June 12, 1980 that tney had not received the source.

Please noce that License No. 37-00862-14 expired on May 31, 19G0.

Dear Mr. Jones:
Reference:
Control No. 03575 I have been in contact with Jack D. Hays, Jr. of PPG Industries and also Lea Tremper at your N?.C Gaithersburg, MD location concerning Mr. Hay's CertiZicate of Disposition (4-23-30), statement that all licensed material on License No. 37-00362-14 was transferred to our License No. 34-00374-05.
This statement was in error.
The confusion here at Barberton, Ohio was related to the fact that an iron-55 x-ray analyzer was added to our License No. 34-00374-05 and was mistakenly thought to be the iten al issue (cobalt-60 scalad source).
During my seccad phone call to Lea Tremper, she shed some light on this con-fusion by informing n,e that the cobalt-60 sealed source was licensed to Richard M. Murchak and Leno 3cnet of the Glass Division of ??G Industries, Inc.
She further stated that the address listed on the License No. 37-00862-14 was Mt. Zion Road, Mt. Zion, Illinois.
Lea Tremper stated that she would relay this information to the proper location and attempt to get this confusion rectified.
Neither Mr. Hays nor an; personnel at PPG, Barberton, Ohio have possession or knowledge of this cobalt-60 sealed source.
I believe your request for action on renewal of License No. 37-00862-11, which expires May 31, 1980, should be directed to the appropriate persons and location listed
>n the License.
I hope this co::unication will clarify our non-involvement with this cobalt-60 source and license.
